The challenge for a design for a very fast shifting 3-speed transmission was thrown down at the end of the season. The shift time requirement was 50 milliseconds. On August 10, 2012 the first demonstration occured. The timing was met. Next the mechanical team will examine additional reliability enhancements while the electronics and software teams examine sensors and controls to determine shift points.
